VuRecipes ("the app") is published by VuNet Systems ("we", "us"). This policy explains what
information the app collects, why, and what we do with it. It applies to the Android app
distributed on Google Play under the package name com.vunet.android.hybrid.
VuRecipes includes the VuNet telemetry SDK, which sends diagnostic data to servers operated by VuNet Systems. The following is a complete list of what is transmitted.
| Data | Description |
|---|---|
| Installation ID | A randomly generated identifier created when you install the app. It is not derived from any hardware identifier and is not linked to you personally. It persists until you uninstall the app or clear its data, and is used to group diagnostic events from the same installation. |
| Session ID | A randomly generated identifier that groups events within a single period of app use. It changes regularly and does not persist. |
We do not collect the Android ID, the Google Advertising ID, IMEI, MAC address, serial number, or any other hardware or account identifier.
We do not collect your IP address as a stored field, and we do not use any of the above to determine your location.
Recipe search runs entirely on your device. Your search terms are not sent to us or to anyone else; the app records only the number of characters typed and the number of results, to measure how search performs.
For each network request the app makes, we record the web address (including its path and query string), the response status code, the destination server address and port, and timing measurements such as DNS lookup, connection, and time to first byte. The app only contacts Wikimedia Commons (to download recipe photos) and VuNet's own telemetry endpoint. Request and response bodies are never recorded.
All of the data above is collected for two purposes only: app functionality (loading recipe photos) and analytics and diagnostics (understanding crashes, performance problems and how the app is used so we can improve it). It is not used for advertising, profiling, credit assessment, or any automated decision-making about you.
Recipes you save are written to your device's private app storage. They are never uploaded to us or to anyone else, and they are deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
We do not sell your information and do not share it with third parties for their own purposes. Diagnostic data is sent only to infrastructure operated by or on behalf of VuNet Systems. Recipes are included in the app. Recipe photos are public-domain images downloaded from Wikimedia Commons (commons.wikimedia.org); like any website, its servers receive standard connection information such as your IP address when a photo loads, under the Wikimedia Foundation privacy policy.
All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Diagnostic data is retained for no longer than is necessary for the purposes described above.
Because the app holds no account and no personal identifiers, we cannot identify data as belonging to you individually. You can stop all collection at any time by uninstalling the app. Clearing the app's data resets the installation identifier and deletes your saved recipes.
VuRecipes is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, note the change in the app's release notes.
